Forecasting

Futura Forecast is not a time travel software, but it can provide you with a definition of possible outcomes. You can see what are the possible future scenarios, and when you know what’s waiting for you, you can easily prepare for the upcoming events.

“It is always wise to look ahead, but difficult to look further than you can see.”

Winston Churchill

Forecasting vs planning

We need to distinguish between planning and forecasting. Usually, at the end of the current year, annual plans are planned for the next year. However, it is difficult to predict what will happen in 6 or 12 months. For this reason, we need to forecast = to plan more precisely the monthly or quarterly periods that come.

We can pull parallel to the field.

We can not throw the seed at the beginning of the season and collect the fruits at the end. We have to worry about our field. And on time. When it comes to drought, it is late for us to introduce irrigation. The irrigation system had to be introduced before it was drought. We had to plan the irrigation system for that year (planning), and then listen to the weather forecast to know when to start irrigation (prognosis).

“When you know what lies ahead, you can prepare for it.

That’s BUDGETING.”

Short-term planning

The forecasting principle allows to put the future in the present and to make decisions based on data to reach agreed goals. It allows us to prepare better for the upcoming time period.

Scenario

In addition to defining the incredible potential outcomes that will occur, Futura Forecast lets you define different scenarios. (WHAT-IF) that will bring us closer to what will happen if certain prognoses come to fruition.

  • What will happen if the main buyer leave us
  • What will happen if the price of raw materials increases by 10%
  • What will happen if we increase sales by 20%
